From resistance to housing wish
Furnishing the model home of the future sounds almost like science fiction. Yet, Welna was commissioned by Ymere to carry this out. The goal was to give future residents a positive yet realistic picture of their new home and to lower any potential barriers to moving in.
The target group consisted primarily of people aged 65 and over from Amsterdam-Noord who had often lived in the same home for 40 to 50 years. Understandably, a move to a new home raises questions and resistance in such circumstances.
Challenges
- Strong connection to the current home and neighborhood.
Relatively high resistance to moving.
Need for familiarity, comfort, and practical solutions.
Attention from executive level due to the strategic importance of the project.
By furnishing the model home in a spacious, recognizable, and attractive manner, residents gained a realistic picture of the possibilities of their new living environment.
Not only were barriers lowered, but more trust was also created, causing residents to move positively towards their next housing step.
